Product Description | Brain natriuretic peptide (type B natriuretic peptide, BNP) was originally isolated from brain, but is mainly produced in myoendocrine cells of the heart ventricles from which it is released into the circulatory ststem. Its 32 amino acid peptide contains a 17 amino acid ring structure that is common to all natriuretic peptides. It has natriuretic and vasodilatory effects and suppresses the renin-angiotensin-aldosterone system. |
