Water-soluble Cy5 Maleimide is the most commonly used sulfhydryl-reactive fluorescent labeling reagents for preparing far-red-fluorescent bioconjugates. Cy5 conjugates are very bright, photostable, pH insensitive and produce minimal autofluorescence of biological specimens in this region of the spectrum.
Cy5 Amine (also sold under the Sulfo-Cyanine5 Amine name) is far-red fluorescent probe is water-soluble, and its fluorescence is pH-insensitive from pH 4 to pH 10. Its excitation peak is ideally suited for the 633 nm or 647 nm laser lines and its absorption and emission spectra are almost identical to those of Alexa Fluor® 647, CF® 647 Dye, or any other Cyanine5 based fluorescent dyes.
This sulfonated dye is also known as sulfo-Cyanine5 Maleimide.
